"I have been making pottery professionally for over 30 years.
Craftsmanship is very important to me. After throwing the work on the wheel, it is trimmed so the clay is the same thickness throughout the piece. This makes the weight feel right.
Each piece is then carved, smoothed, and terra sigillata is applied to the bottom. I am then ready to sign the piece! After drying completely, the work is placed in the kiln, and fired to 1700 degrees.
Finally, I apply multiple layers of glazes - the piece returns to the kiln for a final firing to 1940 degrees...and is then ready for you to purchase!!
The rims of my pieces are always rounded, and the foot of each work is always smooth.
Whether the piece's form is cylindrical or round - I think you'll find the shape is "just right"!
My entire studio is solar powered!"
