Peter Callas has forged a career spanning 45 years earning him a worldwide reputation for both his pioneering work with the Anagama kiln and his unique style of Ceramic Art. Callas’ poetic and expressionist work often “speaks” to the viewer and his spirited approach will help students handle clay in new and exciting ways.
At this two day, HANDS-ON workshop you will learn the art of “One of Kind Forms” from wheel and slab construction with a master artist. His approach emphasizes how to deal with clay’s expressionistic challenges while abstracting vessels and constructing ceramic sculptures. Peter will demonstrate his techniques and process as well as discuss his aesthetics and inspirations in life. He will also give PowerPoint presentations and show a 20 minute film on Peter Voulkos.
