This beginning hand building ceramics class is geared towards home-schooled students ages 12 and up. Your child willlearn the basic skills for hand building techniques which include slab, pinch, coil construction while exploring the elements of art and principles of design. Class modules build student's skills class over class, but can be taken individually. Students will receive basic introduction to the history of clay, its uses, and will learn how to glaze their pieces along with understanding the different types of firings.
Field trips to the museum's library and exhibition halls will occur during this class session.

Instructor: Juliet Kurth
Juliet Kurth has been homeschooling her children for over 7 years, is a board member at a homeschool co-op, and has been teaching a variety of classes there for the last 5 1/2 years. She loves ceramics and is excited to share her passion with other homeschooled children and parents.
