Availability: In stock (1)

Tiles have been a prominent part of Europe’s cultural heritage since the Middle Ages. The word ‘tile’ comes from the Latin tegula and is formed from the verb tegere which means ‘to cover’. Tiles have certainly been used to cover many surfaces, ranging from church and cathedral floors, cellars in Dutch houses, whole facades of buildings, porches, fireplaces, to bathrooms and even items of furniture.  Their applications have been combined with an equally extensive range of different figurative designs and patterns, applied to the tile with the aid of diverse ceramic decoration techniques.
