Exploring Surface Tuesdays

Availability: In stock (7)

If you’ve ever struggled with figuring out just what to do with your pieces beyond basic forms or if you’re looking to dive deeper into your surface options then this class is for you. Students will learn a variety of techniques and tips to impact the surface of their forms whether they are hand built or wheel thrown. In the first half of the class session, techniques will range from using underglazes to manipulating the walls of a form to texture, carving and more. Along with gaining knowledge and practice with individual decoration options, students will practice layering the various methods to achieve a well-thought out surface. The second half of class will focus on glazing methods and considerations. Topics will include successfully planning a glaze color palette, application beyond dipping, using wax resist options, decals and more. Mandatory clean up on the last day of class.

Skill Level: Minimum of one previous hand building or wheel throwing class needed.
