Don Bendel came to North Arizona University in 1970. The hiring of many new faculty that year signaled new growth and direction for the University, and the Art Department took on a feeling of optimism and enthusiasm. His expressionistic works are influenced by his experiences with people, places, and nature, but it is his own awareness, creativity, and inventiveness that gives life to the ideas.
