In this beginning and intermediate sculpting class, students will learn the different types of clays, hand building techniques, and surface designs to create sculpture no larger than 12" x 12". These eight classes will provide students with underglazes and stains to finish the pieces. Students will learn expressionism, movement, and internal support structures for their work. Assigned projects will include a hedgehog, egg head, and baby turtle. Students need to come to class with a sketchbook to take notes, sculpture ideas, inspirations and pictures of what they would like to create after assigned projects are complete. Mandatory clean up during the last week of class.

COST INCLUDES: One 25lb bag of house clay, instruction, studio membership and museum membership during the length of the class. Students are responsible for purchasing clay through the studio's store. Clay cost includes firing fees, wax, studio stains, and cone 10 glazes. NO OUTSIDE CLAY ALLOWED.

Kim began making animals out of love and amazement, filled with delight and curiosity. Kim is drawn to the dimensionality of nature’s creatures. The textures, shadows, folds of skin, as well as the unique postures they assume. She enjoys the study of her subjects. It is the process of capturing all of a subjects features that interests her, Kim is process driven. As much as she may like a finished piece, it is the next piece she anticipates. Kim enjoys the process of discovering and researching her new realisitic ceramic creations.
